Bread and Fish

"We have only 5 loaves here and two fish." And he said, "Bring them here to me."
Matthew 14:17-18

"How many loaves do you have?"  They said, "Seven, and a few small fish."  And directing the crowd to sit down on the ground, he took the seven loaves and the fish, and having given thanks he broke them and gave them to the crowds.  And they all ate and were satisfied.
Matthew 15:34-37

We will always have limited resources in Bible translation.  Not enough linguists or translators.  Not enough money.  Not enough support workers.  A lack of proper equipment.  No feasible way to get to remote places.

But who are the ones seeing the lack of resources?  We are.  With our little finite human minds.

Finite minds only saw a few loaves and a couple fish... being offered to feed 5,000.  Not possible.  But Jesus' infinite perfect mind saw something much more.  He knew that it was plenty to feed 5,000 once it touched his hands.

No matter the circumstances, no matter the resources, Jesus is always enough.

A couple weeks ago we celebrated the scripture portions that have been published in the last year in Papua New Guinea.  Publications in 47 languages were presented.  That included 6 New Testaments and several books of the Bible in print, as well as several in audio form.

PNG has over 830 individual languages.  So how do 830 languages get the Word of God?  We put them in his hands and let him handle it.  It's the only way.  He proves that when you give him something, he can do things that are way beyond our imagination.

Limited resources?  Always... when we only look to ourselves.  What can you do with a few loaves of bread an a couple fish?  Feed your family, maybe a couple more?

Unlimited resources?  Absolutely... when it's turned over to the one who is enough, who proves that he can take the limited resources that you have and feed 5,000.

Pray with me for the remaining 300 people groups in PNG who don't have any translation projects in the works?
